The 8th Biennial Conference of the International Society of Iranian Studies, Honoring Ehsan Yarshater

The 8th Biennial Conference of the International Society for Iranian Studies will be held from 27-30 May 2010 at the Doubletree Guest Suites Santa Monica hotel. The Biennial Conference brings to Greater Los Angeles approximately 250 scholars from various parts of the world for the presentation of their current research on diverse topics about Iran, the Iranian Diaspora, and Persian literature and culture. This is the largest international biennial gathering of scholars who study, teach and write on Iran and Persian language, literature, and culture.

On Saturday, May 29, Ehsan Yarshater’s contributions to Iranian Studies will be honored and discussed by Richard N. Frye (Harvard University),
Oktor Skjaervo (Harvard University), Charles Melville (University of Cambridge),
Gernot Windfuhr (University of Michigan), and 
William Hanaway (University of Pennsylvania) during Plenary Session 42 at the Marquee Ballroom from 6:00 to 7:00 PM.

The Ehsan Yarshater 90th Birthday Tribute & Reception will take place following the panel, on Saturday, May 29, 2010 in the Carousel Ballroom from 8:00 to 10:00 PM.
