Citing Iranica

The first fascicle of the Encyclopædia Iranica was published in print in 1982, and in 1996 the website was established.

As of August 2020, the online version of the Encyclopædia Iranica has over 8,900 entries, of which about 850 entries are only available on the internet; the print edition is comprised of 16 volumes.

For those entries which are available in print and on the internet, there is a note indicating volume, fascicle, and page of the printed version at the very bottom of the entry:

For those entries which are only available on the internet, the publication date is given at the bottom of the entry:

For more information about how to cite online sources, please consult the Chicago Manual of Style (16th ed., Chicago, Ill., 2010).
