Sergei Andreyev

(1964–Present) Iranologist specializing in Afghan and Islamic studies; a scholar of Afghan history whose work focuses on tribal-state relations, the role of Islam in tribal politics, and religious traditions including Sufism and Ismailism. He received his MPhil from St Petersburg University and his DPhil from the University of Oxford, and has taught at Oxford University, King’s College London, and St Petersburg University, while also contributing to international peacekeeping missions and serving as president of the Consociatio Eruditorum Studiis Afganologicis Internationalibus.
