Amin Banani
(1926-2013) Iranian-American historian and scholar of Persian literature; a specialist in modern Iranian history, Persian literature, and the intellectual and cultural history of Islamic Iran. He was Professor of History and Persian Literature at UCLA, where he founded the Iranian Studies Program and chaired the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures. Major publications include The Modernization of Iran and The Epic of Kings.
