NIMĀ YUŠIJ, pen name of Moḥammad-ʿAli Nuri Esfandiāri (b. Yuš, in the Nur district of Māzandarān, 21 Ābān 1276/11 November 1897; d. Tehran, 23 Dey 1336/13 February 1958), 20th-century poet, noted for his pivotal role in demarcating the boundaries between classical and modern in Persian poetry.
